Default Limited slip or posi

I have a 2000 ford mustang 3.8 v6 and I hate having a one wheel wonder so I was looking to upgrade but I was wondering which is better a limited slip or positraction unit. I drag race my car so I need a good burnout. Any help would be much appreciated.

Welcome!

Positraction IS limited-slip. It's GM's name for it. Ford's name for limited-slip is Traction-Lok. It's like the "difference" between an EcoBoost engine and an internal combustion engine.

The Traction-Lok found is Mustangs is a clutch-type setup, and so is Positraction. But there is a Posi-style carrier unit that can be installed into the Ford axle. The difference is in the internal spring setup. TL has one large spring clamping the clutch-packs, while Posi uses four smaller springs. They do the same thing.

I'm with Daehawk. Swapping in an 8.8 axle assembly is a better way to go than trying to upgrade the 7.5.

Yeah I've checked into that and those are close to a grand compared to just 500 for a limited slip.

Sounds like you've already made up your mind.

Ive not bought or looked for one myself but $1000 seems a bit excessive.
