2014 GT axle replacement

2014 GT axle replacement
I am repairing a damaged 2014 GT that was hit on the right side. The axel broke off at the flange. The salvage yards are saying it is the same right rear axel from 2005 to 2014, V-8 or V-6, no difference. Is this true?
I have found parts cars at "you pick and pull" yards. What wrenches do I need carry to get an axel removed?
Lastly, is there anything to look for? I know some older Ford vehicle had the axel bearings running directly on the axel shaft and this would wear out this area.
THANKS in advance for any info................

No it isn't true. The 2005-10 V6 used a 28 spline 7.5" rear end with an open differential.
In 2011 all Mustangs have the same rear end so it doesn't matter what you pull it from if it is a 2011+ car. If it is coming from a 2005-10 then you have to pull from a GT.

That's a 31 spline axle in there, common to all 11+ Mustang GTs. Chances are good if it broke the axle flange, it's banged the differential pretty hard, too. You might want to have a close look at that, before buying just an axle.

Fixed that for you - every Mustang starting in 2011 to 2014 has the 31 spline 8.8 rear end, not just the GT. For 2005 to 2010 only the GT had the 31 spline 8.8 rear end.
And excellent point. If you damaged the axle on your car, chances are something else has happened. So just get the entire rear end and swap it. Probably cost you about the same anyway.

Don't want to argue with a moderator but here is a different answer for another Mustanger......
What do I do??
They are both the SAME length, they are 31 spline and they are made out of either SAE 1055 or 1541 carbon steel. Hope this is the info you were looking for.
