Okay guys, my major is marketing and the manager at my local drag strip wants me to market her track and will pay me for it if i can increase numbers. And If I do this, then next year I can have a race with whatever theme I want on an open weekend. And I was thinking a possible GTO vs. Mustang shootout.
I would need to know how much interest we have in this from the people in the surrounding states and others who just like to travel to events.
there would be a car show with several classes of racing with many different indexes. With money and trophies for all different events (all indexes, best of show, burnout competition, most creative, and such)
I would also need to know if any sponsors would be willing to donate to the prize fund to have their name on a huge banner and all over flyers that would be handed out, and a possible local radio advertisement.
This would take place at Thunder Valley Raceway Park in Noble, Oklahoma, probably around early July. It's a good central location for the neighboring states.
Now we know that for every GTO, young and old, there will be 7 mustangs. So if this happens we will large participation from everyone around.
Just tell me what you think or ask any questions you may have. This is still in the early planning stages.

Okay, that was what I posted on ls1gto.com for the GTO boys.
I am thinking a 14, 13, 12, 11, and 10 second index class that pay anywhere from $1000-2500 (obviously depending on numbers and sponsors) and a "heads up" class to pay the most, from $1500-5000, which undoubtedly is going to be won by an outlaw 10.5 mustang or something. Also a "best in show" award for the "lookers" rather than the "go-ers". And a burnout contest for those who just want to demolish 400 dollars in tires.
But all of this is obviously based on participation and sponsorship.
Just some more info. I already have a company wanting to be main sponsors for the race. East Texas Muscle Cars. But I'm sure there is some mustang builder who would like to one up them for a little but more advertising.
I am saying the same things to you as the GTO guys... who all is interested? Are there any likely sponsors? Do you have any ideas?
Just some personal, my name is Andrew Anderson and I am a student at the University of Oklahoma. If you want to contact me, my e-mail is andrew4033@gmail.com. Or my name on ls1gto.com is also TheGTOKid.
Thank you very much and I hope to hear back from some of you stang boys.
