new stang might be?
so i got this 1991 LX 5.0 and its a real nice car... i was getting it smogged yesterday and this guy comes in and asked if it used to be a CHP car (califorina highway patrol) because you can kindof see a 'califorina highway patrol' sticker marks on the bottom of the window...
anyway i can find out of it used to be?

RE: new stang might be?
check the door sticker to see if there is a 6 digit DSO #, also look behind the headlights and see if there are 2 buck tags. there is plenty other things that would give it away, see here: http://www.sspmustang.org/tech.htm

RE: new stang might be?
the car was in a wreck, so the door actually has the wrong vin on the sticker so the other info is bogus...
but looking at the winsheald vin, mine is ( 1FACP40M5MF186128 ) and according to the below img any vin that starts with 1FA is a SSP.
so it is a SSP mustang. Nice! any noticeable differances there is or i should know about??
thanks for that link 50Trippin

RE: new stang might be?
1FA doesn't mean it's an SSP, There is now way to tell if a mustang is SSP by the vin #. All fox mustangs start with 1FA. Was the front support replaced after the accident? if not take a look behind the driver side headlight. is there 2 flimsy metal tags? do you have a speedometer that says "certified calibration"? also i believe some SSP's have large ground straps on the trunk hinges and the hood hinges. There are lots of little clues, the only definitive ones are theDSO #, buck tags (flimsy metal tags) or the title will say "police" or "former exempt".
