Default new to SD

i have a 1988 GT mustang and its my first my car so its my first build. My question is im building up the 302 instead of swappin motors. everybody tells me to convert to MAF because SD cant be tuned? Is this true? And if it can be tuned how hard is it and can i get the same power?

well the sd can not be tuned but it can be worked with . in changeing out the cam you have to look for cams that have a 114 lsa(lobe seperation angle ) the injectors can only be the stock 19# inj's . you can run nitrous on them and get good power , my 87 has trick flow track heat intake ,twisted wedge heads and a65mm throttle body with a 100 shot under drives cold air and hit 315hp to the rear tire with the spray on.

well for the same amount as the new conversion kit plus a little more coin you can go with xfi or mega squirt for a sd ecu stand alone , which are very tuneable and make awsome power and are more relieable than maf . i have a ford truck that is mass air with the f303 cam in it and it has idle issues with maf so they aint no better in my opinion.

you can run 24lb injectors on speed density, i have them in my car and they run and idle good! speed density can be worked with its just just a little tweaking and you can have a great running car. check out my sig, its a heavy convertible and i weigh 235 and i have put up some decent times (i think!!) it runs real strong and i can still get about 18mpg on highway trips!! i would notcount out speed density right away! the major thing is deffinetly thecam, but there are some cams out there that are very speed density friendly!

i got 24's and had em in my old 87 too

sd can rock, just leave the cam alone. they can work but drivibility suffers

as far as power adder, you can make sd work till about 425rwhp, but your forced to run fmu w/boost
