Question 1. Rough Idle At Start, 2. Power Loss At Speed

my 88 gt is still speed density, it has ported and polished heads and intake manifold w/spacer. When I start it up I have to play with the throttle since it idles rough and wants to stall for a couple seconds then evens out. I'm thinking since its taking in more air it could just be a simple computer tuning?

Also, aside from that and not related since the 1st problem was there since i bought the car; after driving for a short while, say half hour or so. I will be on the interstate cruising and when i go to excelerate it acts like its starving for fuel but my fuel pressure gauge reads normal 40's. It usually only happens after some driving is done. The car has sat for a while without a fuel stabalizer, could it be a dirty fuel system?

maybe a computer problem but i wouldnt know too much about that.

but on the other things, you might need to adjust the idle screw, hook up a vacuum gauge and tune it.

and for the car starving for fuel after a certain time of running, maybe its vapor lock in the fuel line, if the fuel line is ran too close to the exhaust after some time it will begin to heat the fuel. just some things that came to mind, hope it helps

When you start it, does it crank longer than normal?
As per your second problem, sounds like a TFI module on the distributor or the pickup in the dizzy. Start by taking off the ignition module and getting it checked out.

Thanks for the tips, i'll start with those. Any other ideas to what the problems could be?

Have you tried fresh gas yet? Tested the TFI module?
