Question 83 capri rs 302

Hi I'm getting a stock 83 mercury capri rs with a 302 and a t-5. I was wondering what I could do to free up a little horse power in the stock motor?

edelbrock 289 rpm intake and carb and get rid of the factory exhaust manifolds.
