How Bad Are Carbs?

Im buying a new 5.0 and iv come across a 1985 5.0. Its carbed..

I also live in canada where it snows and get very cold lol..

What im trying to ask is:

Are carbed cars just as reliable for a daily driver as EFI?
How bad are carbed cars in the winter?

Is this a smart buy for an 18 year old for a daily driver to and from work ( about 15 minute drive everyday )

The car also has 280,000KM.

carb cars are fine, as long as it has a choke hooked up on it, you'll be fine in the winter

The only problems may be elevation... if you are in an area where it changes drastically you may run lean/rich

nope elevation is fine here.. and okay i dont know much about carbs but nows the time to learn lol! What do you guys think about that car i posted a link to?

I like it, its a very clean well maintained car... the engine bay is also clean nice parts suspension/engine wise +++its a 5-speed =D

Personaly I like carbs better than EFI. Much easier to tune and you don't have all kinds of sensors that can go bad leading to your car to either not start or not run very well. Tuning is so much nicer cause it's just 2 screws (high/low) well 3 if you can't the idle screw. A well tuned carb can get about the same MPG or better and it's easier to build power with a carb as well. But that's just my opinion.

A good carb setup properly should run just as well as EFI. I operate mine across 4,000+ft of elevation with summers over 110*F and winters as cold as 10*F(sometimes colder). My carb'd car starts easier than either of my parents FI cars and gets 25mpg on the highway without too much difficulty.
