I'm currently rebuilding an '86 5.0 HO, that's going into a 1970 coupe. Prob. next friday my heads and crank will be ready, so i can install them. But i don't have the manual for this type of engine, i do have a workshop manual for to 64-73 (V8) models.
The order of tightning the heads, crankshaft, inlet etc, is that the same order i can use for the 5.0?
I could also use some torque setting, like main cabs, rods, heads, flywheel etc. Me being in europe, it's not easy to get a decent manual specific for this engine.
Could you guys help me out?

My manual says.........
Mains 60 ft/lb.
Rods 19-42 ft/lbs.
Cylinder heads 65-72 ft/lbs.
Always do the torque in 2 steps. Like on a main cap bolt, first go to 30 ft/lbs then on to 60 ft/lbs.
Manuals can easily be bought from Amazon.com BTW.....

So i finally got the crankshaft an heads back. Crank has been grinded -010". I just put the crank, pistons, rods into place and thightened them to spec.
I also put the camshaft in, (before the crankshaft) but now i'm stuck. I need to know how the markings on the gears have to come. Can you provide me with a picture?
Also, which manual do you have? And does it have a chapter specific to the speed density setup and wiring? I did a search, but i don't know which book to buy.
I had to replace the exhaust valves too (leak), but no one has them in stock here. With a little luck i'll have them next week or the following week.
There should be a punch mark on each of the gears. The marks must face each other. Small gear (sprocket really) goes on the crank and the mark must be on top. Big gear goes on cam, mark to the bottom facing the crank gear. Engine will be about TDC when the keyway of the crank is facing upwards.
