the 500 will be great for faster revs in a lighter car....idk how fast your planning on spinning the 302 but the "K"code 289 with solid lifters had a redline of about 6500-7k and they used a 600cfm

when shelby got hold of the "K" code he put a 715cfm carb on it.....

yea, i would say 600cfm if you do something to it, my old 85 before the one i have now had a 650 on it with ported heads and full bolt ons, she ran like a bat outta hell past 3k rpms...i have a stock holley on my 85 gt now and it revs quicker low rpms with close o the same mods except the heads...so idk, Summit racing sells a edelbrock manifold for the 289/302 for like 179 bucks with all th ehardware and gaskets, great deal tat i am thinking of snatchin up then getting a 500-600 cfm carb

well for now it's gonna stay stock. i'm not gonna mod it any until i can afford to pull the engine out and rebuild it. hopefully with forged internals. that way i can slap a super charger on it.

Your stock carb is about 585CFM. IMHO, a 600 should do it up good.....

Edelbrocks don't perform as well as Holleys. Your carb probably just isn't set right or needs to be rebuilt. And there are better carbs out there these days than generic Edelbrock or Holley carbs.

i've always gotten the opinion that edelbrock is better, and that's the first i've heard of holley being better
