I tried the search, but I'm getting all sorts of stuff about EFI intake and valve cover clearance questions.

My Story:
Converting to carb for the time being, because the money side of it just makes sense for me.

If you guys could list motor mounts, intake, carb and air cleaner size of you combos, and anything else you think might affect the overall height, that would be awesome. I am trying to see what 5.0L based setups will and will not fit under a stock 87-93 hood.

I've got a stock '85 mounts, '85 intake, cast iron egr spacer, a one inch spacer, a QFT 650 carb, annnnd then a two inch breather! Hood still closed fine, but I think thats because of my super snuffer breather. Pretty f'in tall, and ugly/redneck lookin too! Hope that gives you an idea.

if you're looking to add clearance, try using convertible motor mounts instead of traditional coupe/hatchback ones ones. lowers the motor a solid 1.5in or so.

Old thread, but if you are still wondering; I fit a 8.2", Air-Gap, Holley, and a nitrous plate under the stock hood. Polly motor mounts. Tiny ar cleaner (maybe 2" thick)

Perfect, that is exactly what I got. The air cleaner is a 3" but my brother has a drop base we are going to try. I appreciate you replying to this even though it was an old thread.
