Default Carb issue, please help.

Ok i have a holley 4160 600cfm carb on a weland intake, 91 302. I just replaced both fuel inlet valve and seat assemblys and the power valve. The reason why i replaced the 2 inlet valves & seats is due to the fuel was pouring out both bowl breather tubes. I replaced the power valve cause i was there. I set the idle needles to factory 1 1/2 turns, and made sure the floats were set properly.
The car will run, but when i hit the gas, it acts like there is a flat spot. wants to die unless i take my foot off the gas. but if i feather it from the dead spot it will go like hell..lol what is my prob? any and all help will be greatful. Thanks in advance,

Jeremy

seems like you have either to big or to small of a pump shot.

I'd start by checking to make sure the gap is set right between the accelerator pump linkages, and check the accelerator pump cam and see if it's positioned right, or the proper profile for your setup. Also make sure that the squirt nozzles are not clogged, and make sure no debris are clogged up in the metering blocks. Also check to see if the jets are not too small and are delivering the proper fuel flow through the metering block. Hit up Holley's website, they got some decent tuning guides there.... Take care bro.

Start by checking your fuel pressure. There is a certain order to carburetors that you need to follow, otherwise you'll be chasing your tail forever trying to solve problems that you don't have.

Check fuel pressure, check timing, make sure the idle circuit is correct, make sure the main circuit is correct, then check the accelerator pump. The pump shot is the LAST thing you deal with on a carburetor.

Thanks for all of your suggestions/help. I ended up parking the car for a bit, meaning the wife and kid kept me busy for a wile..lol Anywho. I found what had happened. My acc pump spring was broke. It wasent broken all of the way but the spring was cracked and bent a little. Very weird, I have never seen it before. Got a new one and installed. Runs good now...lol
