Default Running real rich need some advice..

Ok to start i have replaced the plugs checked the wires and replaced the intake manifold gaskets and made sure all the vaccum lines were connected. Im still having a problem with the motor loading up and smoking (def a rich/fuel smell)...i got a intake charge temp sensor today and havent tried it yet. I was looking at it today and while it was running and up to temp if i unplugged the Idle air valve there was no change in the motor but yet when i unplugged the air temp it started to pulse up and down..kinda confused on this and would like some insight on what i should check next!

thanks
jeff

Sounds like it could be the throttle position sensor (TPS) is going or out of adjustment. When mine was going out it was running real rich and was difficult to even keep it idling.

Its easier to take out the guess work! If its sensor related then it`ll throw a code! or you can go buy this sensor then that one and then maybe these!!! get the picture?

Are these cars obd1? I would love to hook it up to a scanner but no one around here has scanners old enough...and i messed with the tps a little and it seemed to get better...just not sure how to properly adjust it.

Is it an aftermarket TB with adjustable tps? If not you have to elongate the holes to adjust the tps voltage! just under 1v is the key, i like mine at .998. you have to have a digital volt meter to read it! and yes if the car is older than 96 its obd1.
