Default Carb super rich out of the box?

Hello all,

I recently purchased a holley 770 street avenger for my 393 stroker build and it is super rich. I have an innovative lc2 meter that is like 0.1 accurate and it is telling me at cruise im averaging 11.9-12.3 and at wot under 10.9.... I changed the front jet size to a 70 from the factory 72 and now my cruise is around 13.0-13.5 so it helped but I need to still go about 2 more sizes to bring it to 14's. Is this normal for a carb to be this rich from the factory? My WOT is still dipping down to the high 10's low 11's with the new front jet so I will probably have to also change that jet 2 sizes to help it out. Has anyone else delt with a carb being super rich?

What is your elevation? They usually calibrate them for about 1500 ft. If you're higher than that then it will be rich. Also carbs out of the box are set up for a generic engine without specific parameters.
