We do not have any how-to's for lowering on our site, but there are many good articles online.

MustangWorld has a nice one if you go to their "How To" page.

Sincerely,

Did you visit the MustangWorld How-to page?

No special tools other than common hand tools, jack, jack stands.

On 79-04Mustangs you do not need a spring compressor if you have a jack + jack stands.

What some do...

1. lift front of car with jack
2. place car securely/safely on jack stands
3. place jack under front control arm
4. unbolt top of front strut
5. slowly release jack to allow front control arm to drop all the way down
6. grab spring out of control arm once fully uncompressed/dropped

So basically if you do it the way above, you will not need a spring compressor.

Just be careful, and take all precautions!

Well you'll be working on one control arm at a time.

Please read my above steps, and the Mustangworld article, it will answer all of your questions.

Ok, in that article they are telling you to mark the plate simply to "record" your current alignment setting, so that you can put it back to the OEM settings, or compare to the OEM settings. You can eyeball this after you're done bolting everything back up.

Its always best to get a professional, two wheel alignment after lowering. So you'll want to give it a few days to settle, then go to an alignment shop. Never rely on your markings or guestimates.

Sincerely,
