I have a 1998 Mustang Gt, 5 spd, with just a few done to it, cold air intake and a borla exhaust cat back. My friend has a BMW 328is which is a 2.8 litre, and he has the same done to me with the addition of a clutch. There is debat at school who's car is fastest, and we are going to be settling this as soon as i get my mustang new tires. Will i loose or win? Im thinking its going to be a close race and he'll have me off the line.

How long of a distance are we talking, roll-on start. First off a BMW 325 I has like 180 at the crank so id imagine a 328 to have around 200 or so. BMW's are like tanks starting off i mean pretty slow. However after 60mph they really have good top end and will accelerate pretty well. I mean in Germany they speed limits are generally higher. So get the jump on him early would be my advice. My buddy has a 96 328 and it can be peppy up to 125 before the engine shuts down. Good luck tell us how it goes

if you can drive alright you should take him. Those 328is arent no joke though, my friend ashkan has a 4 door, automatic 328 and if i dont laucnh, he pulls real hard off the line (theres an 8 car length gap if i launch though haha), and thats in the auto, i suggest you get him off the line or itll be closer than you think.....

i think you've got him. the beem is heavy and has an underpowered 6. plus i dont like beemers. beat him for me. when i get a hold of an 04 m3 i'll let you know.

No you mean when he gets a hold of you...Those M3's are fast....I don't like them either but i respect them....Because lots of them are modded like crazy.......

The other day I was at a light next to a 328i. I didnt think he wanted to race so I didnt do anthing special when the light turned green. I went to second gear as I usually do then I hear his engine kick down and he started to pull on me. Now remember that I am in second gear. I went WOT and caught up to him very very easily, to make things worse I missed 3rd gear and still managed a 3 car lead within an 1/8 mile. I know you car is slower than mine but if you get a good launch you shouldnt have a problem beating the BMW.

i hate BMW's now that i think about it. mainly because driving them is like driving a computer, a slow, disconnected feel is always present...... not that an M3 is slow, just the driving feel

I had a BMW while stationed in Germany, they really didnt impress me much except for top end, but of course if you spin pretty much anything to 7500 rpm it will go fast. Heres a hint, the inline 6 most BMW's use has a natural balance to it, so it will spin tighter, meaning everything inside is equal and every action has an equal and oposite reaction, making them very stable at high RPM, and longevity is enhanced.


To me an M3 M5 and pretty much any BMW short of the 12 cyl roadster are S L O W ! ! ! Like wake me up when its over yo...
