Default Why do folks in SUVs want to race? Still a kill I suppose...

I've never paid much attention...so I didn't know this section was here. Now I know...
So this morning I'm stopped at a red light and this Escalade pulls up beside me...with spinners and totally destroyed from someones lack of taste. I didn't think much about it. Then I hear them rev up, and I thought to myself "You've got to be kidding me." Maybe they thought since I was a chick I wouldn't do much. I don't really know. I'm way too competitive to not do anything. So I brushed it off. I see them look over and rev again. I thought "Oh, heck yeah! This will make my morning." So..the light turned green and I pulled him about 6-7 car lengths and thought he'd realize that he didn't have a chance. Plus I was in bad excess of the speed limit. So I backed down. Then he comes flying by me. So I ran him again just for fun. He looked like a little rich punk that needed his butt handed to him anyway. Then I slowed it on down. I thought, "Not much of a "race" so I let him drive by me. Then he flys by me and gets real close, pulls in front of me and slams on his brakes..almost causing me to hit him. But the inside lane was open so I got in it and flew by him again. I thought "This guy's real ticked. What a jerk. So I kept on going and then turned off. Oh well. A race is fun..win or lose.

Trucks try to run me from a ligth all the time. V8 trucks and I guess SUV's feel fast on the low end because of the torque and gearing. I've driven my dad's 5.3L Chevy Silverado and it feels pretty peppy. They can usually hang for about 30 feet but then it's buh-bye.

its because retards think that just because they have a 300hp v8 under the hood, they dont realize that elephant they call a suv weighs like 5000 lbs. i remember some kid with a "pimped out" early 2000-something ford explorer was talkin ish on me cuz he had a v8 230-something hp explorer. we raced, i won, he was shocked. i just think the kid was ignorant and just got his license like a few days ago that he didnt know about power to weight ratios or anything.

yeah. people only look at HP numbers and think since they have more, they're automatically faster. nevermind the thing weighs over 2 tons.

when I was bone stock with my 04 GT an envoy almost beat me... I only got him by a bumper or so, of coarse we started at 50 mph and he diddn't feel like doing three honks so I had to play catch up

yup a buddy in a titan wants to race me, he thinks its a V-8 so it will win no matter what, same with someone in an explorer[&:]

oh and watch out, if its a F-250 and says "Gale Banks" or "Bully Dog" on the side, dont do it, unless your driving a cobra, and even then, watch your step

ya when i was home over spring break I had 2 full size pickups rev at me(i didnt waste my gas on them). they were both old and a pos. i mean wtf do they think they are gonna do smoke me. then i get to the track and I have a guy in a powerstroke wanting to race for money (after watching me have no traction all morning and spinning through 2nd gear) then we decided to race for fun because i had no extra cash. but he had it checked that he didnt want his times shown on the board so they wouldnt let me run him.

yeah its fun when SUV's try to race me, esp the Dodge Rams they all seem to have a chip on their shoulder around here.....I have a V8 Grand Cherokee for my winter/ crappy weather car and i smoke rice burners on a regular basis with that so i guess i am one of these people in question haha

+1 to that.. jeep.com pulled this
2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 6.1L Hemi 5.0 14.0 (Jeep.com)
but suprisingly enough it took motor trend to tell the truth of what it's capable of..
2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 6.1L Hemi, 4.8 13.5 (MT Feb '06)
