Default vs. 1998 Civic EX type-R engine swap

I have been hanging around with a few civic guys, and as much as I hate the idea of dropping backseats, AC, power everything, etc to go fast, it has been fun. Finally, one of the guys challenged me to a race from a roll...I knew his engine was a bit feisty compared to the stock engine, so I was a little skeptical...

He wanted to do a twenty roll, although we actually started higher...He was already in "V-Tec" when we started, so it was even then I started pulling pretty quick. Mustang 1 - Civic 0

On the way back, similar thing. Started at a higher speed, maybe 35. Third horn sounds, I slowly creep up then pull a few car lengths. Mustang 2 - Civic 0

Tonight, we ended up next to eachother at a stoplight (finally, from a dig!)...I absolutely suck at launching so I was a bit nervous. The light turns green, I pull ahead, shift second into a NASTY chirp and put 5+ car lengths on him within a few seconds.

It was fun, even though little competition. He plans on getting a Vortech (yes, Vortech does make a supercharger for Civics), so things will be a little different later.

Next race: Colton's SRT-4

Until next time....

- Glen

I've never actually raced but according to my dyno numbers. I should run 8s on street tires.

LOL yeah, it's funny how my engine is bone stock with the exception of K&N, and the X-pipe in mild addition....

civics can be pretty quick. I'm not a fan of the old b series motors but the new k's that started in 02 are really nice. You'd be surprised what a civic si or rsx typs s can do. And it will spank mustangs on turns without any competition. My buddy has a 99 gt and yea hes faster than me on straight but on turns(where hondas are meant to be) he gets destroyed. And don't hate on vtec because you wish ford put it in you motors. Honda has moved to mostly 2.0l and above
