Default RE: Racing Helmet

Doc, there are different levels of Snell ratings. The closest track to me is Gateway International Raceway, they are allowing Snell 2000 level helmets to be used until 2009 or 2010, then the next level up will be minimum.

You should probably call your track and find out what their standards are.

they say it is snell 90 or higher, they follow the NHRA rules, so they will probably be changing as well

[:@] After doing some research el google...I see that the helmets I have been looking at are "M2000" rated, there are also helmets that are "SA2000" rated. M=Motorcycle, SA=Sports application (auto racing)

So I dunno if the M2000 is good enough or not now, I was just told Snell 2000. [:@] The SA2000 seem to be all $100 and up. I thought I was going to get away with it cheaper.

Default RE: Racing Helmet

mine is M2000, and i have since passed tech at tracks where i had previously failed...and i have been refused the right to race because of my helmet, and it WAS snell 2000. they busted my balls because i left it in the car all the time, and the padding was worn out.
