Default Took the new GT to the track

Took the new car to the track to dial it into the tree. Bracket racer here so I’m looking to be able to cut a good light and not so interested in the best times. Car is a ‘07 GT auto, 3.31 posi with just over 500 miles. DA was 3500’. Over Drive and Traction Control was set to off for all runs. Car was up to normal operating temps (fully warmed up or hot). All stock except for a Diablo 91 octane tune and a new pair of 275-40/17 BFG drag radials on stock GT wheels. Full tank of gas, racing weight 3750lbs. (me in the car). All runs were deep staged and all made in the right lane with the exception of run number 5.

1st run 5:11pm: Rear tires set to 25 lbs, launch rpm 1500, shifter set in 3. Was barely able to spin the tires to heat them up. ????
RT .124
60’ 2.610
330 7.217
1/8 10.640
MPH 73.75
1000’ 13.464
¼ 15.830
MPH 95.28
NOTES: Car launched in 3rd gear not first. I shifted into drive after the 60’ marker. Lesson learned, must leave the car in Drive.

2nd run 5:26pm: Rear tires set to 25 lbs, launch rpm 1500, shifter set in D. Was now able to do a good burnout. Heated the drag radials but didn’t try to melt them.
RT - .022
60’ 2.355
330 6.227
1/8 9.389
MPH 78.07
1000’ 12.103
¼ 14.419
MPH 97.23
NOTES: OK better. Car crossed the finish line at 4300rpm. Can really use some 3.73 gears.

3rd run 5:52pm: Rear tires set to 20 lbs, launch rpm 1500, shifter set in D. Did a good burnout.
RT .030
60’ 2.290
330 6.157
1/8 9.321
MPH 78.03
1000’ 12.036
¼ 14.353
MPH 97.08
NOTES: Ok that more like it.

4th run 6:15pm: Rear tires set to 20 lbs, launch rpm 1740, shifter set in D. Did a good burnout.
RT .042
60’ 2.236
330 6.083
1/8 9.236
MPH 78.33
1000’ 11.939
¼ 14.246
MPH 97.55
NOTES: Expected a better light than run 3 not worse. Attributed to driver variance.

5th run 6:39pm: Rear tires set to 20 lbs, launch rpm 1750, shifter set in D. Did a good burnout.Same settings as run 4.
RT -.080
60’ 2.302
330 6.172
1/8 9.329
MPH 78.22
1000’ 12.036
¼ 14.349
MPH 97.17
NOTES: Car slipped forward during staging causing the very red light. I did not like launching at 1750rpm. Also was moved to the left lane for this run.

6th run 7:28pm: Rear tires set to 22 lbs, launch rpm 1500, shifter set in D. Did a good burnout.
RT -.008
60’ 2.327
330 6.194
1/8 9.350
MPH 78.28
1000’ 12.056
¼ 14.368
MPH 97.26NOTES: Was really trying for a 00x light without the negative sign. This was the last run for the night.

your car is to good for bracket racing. leave it to a old automatic station wagon. What a waste of drag radials.[:'(]

those times seems slow for a GT.... u should be sub 14... with DRs and the tune...13.5-13.6 area.... IMO....

Fo sho. For having DR's your 60 ft. times are pretty high. If I can cut a 2.14 60 in my stock powered new edge on street tires, you should be doing at least 1.9 on the DR's and extra horsies.

And what is this about not caring about ET at all, just reaction time? What good is a .000 reaction time when bracket racing if you run an 18 second quarter mile?

Thats not racing, IMO, its...something else [:'(] Maybe I'm just cranky though.

Hmm, very interesting. I would also think you should be running a bit quicker.

With the DA it's not surprising...welcome to my hell. Wait for some cooler weather to run and you will see 13s.

Some of these guys still don't have a clue how much DA effects how you run.

Damn, you said it before I could. DA really affects your mpha LOT! In a better DA, say500 - 1000, he'd probably have trapped99 - 101.

Man I hate automatics!!!

3500' DA, Full tank of gas, auto w/3.31 and only 500 miles on the odo. I'd actually say those were decent runs-- all things considered.

Yeah, those seem like good times considering ^. People on here see that one car runs a 13.x Stock and they assume that EVERY car runs a 13.x EVERY RUN no matter where they live Gotta love the internet.

haha exactly. I was at a track once in Tucson AZ and it was 90 degrees and getting humid. The track was also at like 3000 feet.I posted my times here, Iran 14.2 stock and people said I was a bad driver for not hitting 13's. I would love to see them under those conditions break into the 13's. At sea level and 50 degrees I could easily hit 13's.
