I'm thinking about trading my 98 GT in for a 2nd gen. Eclipse GSX. What do these Eclipses run, and how much faster compared to my 98 GT will it be? I hear they respond to mods very well?

2nd gen are the worst ones IMO

Yeah. Im going with 66... They are junk. They leak oil like you wouldnt belive. The blocks cant hold HP, and the drivetrain is really junk. lol. Im not trying to side with youre stang. Infact i think you could go further with it. But with money. The first gens are better in alot of ways. Faster... i dunno. stock for stock yeah. But hey man... if thats what youre into then great. have fun!

are you going for looks or for speed? if you are going speed get a 1stgen and look around. find a 6bolt motor wiht a 4bolt rear. the 7bolts in the 2gs were prone to crankwalk. who ever said they leak oil, all motors do eventually. if you are going for looks, 97 to 99 are the way to go. if you are drag racing, nothing better than awd for street use.
and the stock block on the 1stgens have held up to 1000hp and have run 7s. check out john shepherd for proof on that.

definately go with a 1st gen for speed. the motors are stronger, the stock turbo is bigger, thy are much lighter, and DSM guys respect you more (from what ive seen). 97-99 look far better though. some people are into that sort of thing.
