History of Street Racing...?

RE: History of Street Racing...?
Actually guys, what we know as street racing stems more form So. Cal than the southern moonshiners. Back in the '50's Wally Parks came up with the NHRA as way to legitmaize what was going on in So. Cal and the surrounding areas. This gave birth to proffesional drag racing and racing on the Salt Flats. Check out the S. Cal Timing Assn. for more info on that. I am not going to give a history lesson here because I want this guy to find out for himself what it was all about.
Oh an Buster, keep your comments to yourself, he is doing a project on street racing not saying we should all go out and do it. Besides this is the STREET and strip section, if you don't like what some people do here, don't read the thread.

I'm pretty sure street racing started well before '50s, and much earlier than American Graffiti, which didnt even come out until the '70s
