heh.... you know how I know the GT-R won't sell worth ****?

[8D]
because according to your power to weight ratios, this new saleen will absolutely smoke ford gt's. not even competition. and according to "morbid's laws of exclusivity" this car will probably have a $50,000 mark up

see i can be a smart *** too, dont ruin this thread with bs.

aww I'm sorry.. did I strike a nerve?

80K for a saleen that seats 4 and does low-mid 11's... what did I tell you the other night? by 2009 there will be cars 200% better of a deal than a 90K nissan...

just because you want to get asshurt over something that I'm right about doesn't mean you can blame ruining this thread on me... I made a comment and you decided to take it personally... so it's really on you whether you want to ***** up this thread with GTR gospel there tough guy... and I'm glad you think I'm a math genious but "MY" power to weight ratio was concieved decades before I was born

^^^ have fun

We had a nice thread about the Saleen S281E (550hp/520tq) racing the Z06. Well guess what was unveiled at the car show I was in yesterday (got 4th btw [:@])!!!:

2008 Saleen S302 Extreme!
620hp
600ftlbs
3400lbs
3.73:1 gears

Considering the S281E has been run to high 11s without too much trouble, and that the Saleen rep assured me that the new S302E would be significantly underrated, I think Corvette's Project Blue Devil needs to hurry up and get on the ball if they want to compete again...

Compete with whom? You mention Saleen but not Lengenfelter? *New Flash* Saleen's vehicles are highly modified versions of existing mass produced sports cars. Do you see where i'm going here? Now I know you almost blew your wad typing this one up but all I have to say it wait till it get's here. Talk is talk. I thought the Viper was going to blow the doors off the Z06 but look at the 1/4 miles..11.5 to 11.6. After all it is 600hp. Ignore the fact that IownaZ06.and take my comments as a "heard it all before" perspective.

Simma downna! I was simply encouraging the ponycar war to keep progressing (as denoted by the happy smiley lol)!

I fully agree that a better comparison would be Saleen vs. Lingenfelter, as both companies take a car and replace everything to make it a new car, though some might argue that Saleen, as with Shelby and Roush, could be considered "factory" because they are available through Ford.

We have to make the unfair analogy to make up for lack of cubes, though. We shall see how things perform for real when they hit the streets, as always.

However, you gotta have respect for 620horses from a warrentied 302ci motor, just as I have respect for 505 underrated ponies out of a pushrod!

Nice ! thats a badass mustang, but again .... why spend 80K dlls when u can buy a GT500 for 49K new or even cheaper, spend 6 grand with a nice KB blower and you will have a 800+ rwhp beast.
And still, atleast for me the name Shelby > Saleen. Not saying that saleen is bad but shelby is a shelby.

I like everything about the Extreme mustangs except their price tag !! [&:]
because you shouldnt look at JUST hp/tq numbers?

there are other things to consider in a car.

+1

Kinda makes that 8.4L Viper look silly. Until the Viper gets a blower etc..etc..etc..

I know this new Saleen with be stupid fast, but what I would really like to see is SVT reborn in the S197.

P.S Saleen has all my respect because they have OEM status. Meaning....

"Unlike aftermarket "tuner" companies, Saleen is subject to the same federal regulations governing design and testing of their automotive products as larger vehicle manufacturers such as Ford, General Motors, or Toyota" -Wikipedia.com/Saleen

+1 3400lbs>4000lb

brakes
lateral g's
suspension
weight (as shown above)
nameplate
rigitity
materials

the gt500 is nice, but the roush with almost 50 less hp has done better around a track. now i know most people buy the mustang for the 1/4, but when i look at a car, i try to look at the all around concept. (plus i like doing both forms of racing)

I'm at 815hp and can only put a car length on my neighbor's Z06 (40-180). I don't think 600hp would be enough. Then again, my car is pretty much stock except the KB so traction is really bad. That Saleen does sound pretty sweet!
