California Speedway, and Pomona. Those are the only two 1/4 mi. dragstrips that I'm aware of still left in SoCal; the Palmdale one (LACR) closed earlier this year. I don't think Pomona's open for you to "run whatcha brung/test n' tune" type racing, though.

Cities & counties in Southern California don't want dragstrips. They're noisy, they bring in traffic, kids who go to drag races want to go out on the streets afterward and race, and therefore cause horrific accidents and deaths, both to the drivers and innocent bystanders...Oh yeah, and they don't want any of the money that comes along with these events, i.e. hotel taxes, gas and sales taxes, ticket taxes & revenue generated by the venue...

They'd rather force more people to die in speeding and racing related accidentsthan provide a wanted/needed venue for people to go race SAFELY, because it's too noisy, or it's too much traffic, too taxing on the county, etc.

There's an 1/8 mi. here in San Diego, on the Barona Indian reservation; there's the 1/8th mi. at Qualcomm that they do on occasion...There's also Irwindale's 1/8th mi. But for 1/4 mi, it's either Pomona or California Speedway, and Speedway's even limited on when they have events. It really kinda sucks.

Take the 210E, it goes all the way through San Bernardino now (Oh yeah, Fontucky... Always found it funny how they all try to distinguish themselves out there but it's still San Bernardino County) They really have spruced up Fontana since I left in 2000. Get off on Cherry Ave. (turn right onto it) and you can't miss it.

There's also Famoso here in Kern County, some LACR guys come out now that they closed. But it's at least as far of a drive from the LA area as LACR was, maybe a bit more. Good track though.
