Honestly this sounds like BS. a c4 trans with 2:80 gears on a 302 smoking a 400c.i ???? wtf I no the 400 only put like 250hp and 350fpt but that should easily walk an older 302.
clearly this is true for a stock 302, but his is built, so until i know the mods on the 302 im giving him the benefit of a doubt.
SO OP what is done to the 302?

All the bolts were used when putting it back together. Sorry just a joke I used to say about a friend's "built D series."
So why isn't anyone here bi%ching about this? What I see is some 18 year old kid driving around a vintage muscle car like an idiot.
I won't call B.S. on his story because the old 68-70 302 blocks were much more stout than any of the newer ones and therefore can handle much more power. So it's possible that this motor is pushing some power.. andI'll admit thatthe Pontiac 400 was a decent motor in it's time, but it certainly wasn't unbeatable on the streets.
i would like to say though the pontiac has its original motor and its on its last leg, and mine only has 5,000 miles on it and the tranny is fresh as well, though i know im not pushing anywhere near 500 ponies, probably more along the lines of 300-350 idk i'll let you know after i get a chance to dyno it, and as for being young i am a fairly competent driver as well as rider i teach the motorcycle classes out here at mcc and i hate the fact that my car is and auto but i only paid $7700 for the car as it is now so i got a fairly good deal on it, also as the car is not original in anyway aside from the body im not to worried about it depreciating that way and have no plans on getting rid of the car

i honestly dont know everything the guy i bought it from gives me somthing along the lines of half answers as far as i have gotten out of him, flat top pistons, he did somthing to the heads, no word on the cam, 650cfm holley 4bbl carb, edelbrock 289 performer intake, no idea on the bottom end, shift kit in the tranny it scratches first to second and second to third, stock 8 inch rear end, it has crappy stock exhaust manifolds and tiny ass exhaust but as soon as i get some money those are gone and im thinking 3.55's for the rear
