Default prom night, '69 mustang vs '70 firebird

my dad is always grumping at me saying that i need to enjoy school dances and such so i will have somthing to look back on, well i decided i should do just that so instead of wasting my time at the dance me and my buddy went for a cruise, me in my 69 mustang coupe (built 302, C4 tranny with shift kit and crappy 2.80 rear gears it used to be a six banger) and him in his 70 firebird formula 400 (400cid, headers and pipes, 4.11 rear gears) we originally planned on just cruising but he decided he wanted a race so he takes off from the stop light and i let him get a car length on me before i decide i cant have a pontiac beating my stang and then never hearing the end of it from him, well needless to say i smoked him like he was standing still, however there was a downside as the race cost me a $83 reckless driving ticket for smoking the tires at the dance and getting the cop to follow us XD, it was ok though augie said he would over look the street racing charge cause he enjoyed seeing some real cars go at it as opposed to the normal ricer crowd that runs around here

lol yeah, there was one other incident involving a 98 camaro (who unfourtunately spanked me) i kept up with him through first and part of second but those 2.80's just kill me, but anyways during our race i see a cop pull a u turn and hit the lights, the camaro turns off and hides behind advance auto and i booked it the opposite way, my buddy kyle in his SN95 split another way and my other friend just took off straight in his 5.0 fox XD lol it was great the cop didnt know who to follow

A good friend in high school in the 70s had a Formula 400 and it was no slouch to say the least. You are saying you "smoked him like he was standing still" withhim having a one car lengthjump and youwith a 302??You aren't kidding when you say a "built" 302

With aftermarket head castings, bumpstick, aftermarket block, new rotating assembly and the amount of labor in it.

Might as well supercharge a 4.6

There is a huge difference in the 400 motors produced that year. This might have been one of the weaker ones

400 V8 265 bhp. 400 V8 330 bhp @ 4800rpm, 430 lb-ft @ 3000 rpm. 400 V8 (HO) 335 bhp @ 5000rpm, 430 lb-ft @ 3400 rpm. 400 V8 (Ram Air II) 345 bhp @ 5000 rpm, 430 lb-ft @ 3400 rpm. 400 V8 (Ram Air IV) 370 bhp @ 5500 rpm, 445 lb-ft @ 3900 rpm. 400 V8 (Ram Air V) 500bhp.
Performance: 400/370 (RA IV): 0-60 in 5.6 sec, 1/4 mile in 13.9 sec @ 102 mph.

Honestly this sounds like BS. a c4 trans with 2:80 gears on a 302 smoking a 400c.i ???? wtf I no the 400 only put like 250hp and 350fpt but that should easily walk an older 302.
