Default 98 GT vs 06 Accord 2 dr

So my freind at college just got a 06 Accord 2 door 6 speed v6. He is getting an aem cold air intake and lightweight rims soon for it and he wants to race me when we get to school. I looked up its qtr mile time and it was 14.5, which was my most recent run down the strip. I have the mods in my sig, and 4.10s installed by the time i get to school (im not telling him that part tho...). Sound like a good race to you guys?

....oh boy, you just have the PI intake, not the cams/heads?

If he can learn to launch his FWD car and drive it hard, I bet it should be close, with the edge to the Accord at higher speeds just because you will probably spin a lot at first since I don't see any drag radials listed...

Driver mod+well maintianed car+4.10's+Dr's = mid 14's, easily.

or screw that and do a PI swap.

But really if you are already runnig 14.5's, I wouldn't worry, I doubt he could pull off a 14.5 in his car.

Yea im already hitting 14.5 as of now, so im looking forward to seeing what the 4.10s will do if i can get traction. Just got new tires in the rear, they hook pretty good, but i cant wait to get DRs eventualy.
btw the 14.5 was on balded street tires.

He also just got it, so I doubt he's got the launch down and can shift well....although those Accord 6 speeds have very slick shifters.

I just don't see the OP really winning this. He has to re-learn the launch with the 4.10 gears in, and it's not going to be a cake walk to launch with street tires.

Haha traction? I think when I got my 4:10's my 0-60 went from 5.1 to 6.9[8D]

Well, we both will have plenty time to learn the launch, it wont be for 2 months from now. If im lucky ill have a sniper tuner in to with tighter shifts and 91 octane tune by then. But then again possbly not

You have an auto?? I just reread your OP, and he's looking to get an intake and lighter wheels? I don't see this ending well for you.

An intake won't do much but make the VTEC sound louder..... It depends how much lighter the new wheels are, also.

Getting a good launch with street tires and 4.10s is just hard. If you got some drag radials, then I'd say you got him out the hole easily, and you can probably stay out infront for the duration of the race...unless it goes over 100 mph, where his V6 will breath a lot better than your NPI 4.6 2V.
