If you wanted to run a huge turbo, you'd get a decent amount of lag. The supercharger gives you boost down low untill the turbo spools up.Everread about people using nitrous up to the point where there boost kicks in and then the nitrous shuts off, same thing kinda.

Nice kill man, that's a pretty exotic setup on a WRX / STi. To be honest it's a little pointless though, which is why a lot of guys don't do it. If you're worried about lag, a twin scroll setup or an anti-lag setup (small shot of nitrous to help with spool) would probably be cheaper and way more efficient.

You can buy Turbo's with a SMALL Scroll to Reduce lag Correct?? Like have a LARGE Turbo with Small scroll?(what Road Racing People do for quick boost??) I have never heard of a TWIN Scroll.. but thats why im not in the Turbo World.....

Ahh haha yeah, a twin scroll turbo has 2 inlets on the exhaust housing, one of which causes the turbo to spool up faster than a "single stage" turbo.

now that you got me all looking at sleepers sig. and such, not to throw the thread OT, but is that a fairly expensive build you are doing red turbo? I remember reading in another thread if those engines are built correctly they can be pretty power efficient and not so hard on cash?

Yes and no. This is the first car I ever modded other than dropping a K&N filter in LOL. This car has cost me a bundle because I didn't know anything about cars and such when I started this, not saying that I do now, but I know much more than I did. Another thing is I didn't realize what I wanted my end power levels to be. This caused me to buy shxt that I shouldn't have as I had to sell it later and take a hit and such. I also bought crap I didn't need or stuff that wasn't compatible with other stuff. If I knew then what I know now, things would have been very different, and cost me a LOT less. Depending on the motor you want to build and how resourceful you are, you can get it done for relitivley cheap, and pretty reliable. It's not going to be cheap per say, but cheaper than some other cars. Like my Z, everything you do to that car is expensive which is why I haven't done anything to it. Depending on motor and such, 300 whp is pretty easy to come buy for cheap, and believe it or not, these cars move out pretty good on that amount of power. My buddy has a civic hatch with 250 whp and has hit low 13's with it on slicks with a long geared LS transmission and no lsd. He has a total of 1,500 in the stuff used for the turbo and he's running good parts.

If I did everything right the first time, the build would have cost me probably around 5k or so, more or less. I expect to be mid 11's when it's over with. I'm really not sure if that's good or bad for the amount of money spent, but it's where I'll be at. A guyI know has almost the exact same set up as me except for in a civic, and on low boost of 11psi @ 378whp turned a best time of 11.7 his first time to the track on slicks. I'm sure he'll be able to cut that down by at least another 2 tenths with more practice. We are both expecting to be around the 420-430 whp when we're completely done, so basement 11s will hopefully be possible. Not bad considering it's a FWD car and we FIGHT for traction. Since I get into most of my races on the highway for whatever reason, I think I'll be able to hang with mid to high 10 second RWD/AWD cars if I get the chance.

Anyhow, it all comes down to how fast you want to go. Slap a turbo on a stock block, it's decently quick for pretty cheap. After that it depends on how radicly you want to build. Pm me if you'd like any more info. Thanks, RTI
