Nah don't be tempted. I would take a GT500 over base C6. Even though Ford has whored out the "Shelby" name as of late, I still think there is something very special about that ride.

and for 100k their only going to up the ante by 100hp (I'm guessing at rwhp here)? they must not be using a very efficient blower for that small of a gain at 10PSI

No one denies that money = hp. What we were saying is that any car can be built to go fast. However, we all give more respect to the ones that do it from factory.
As far as best bang for your buck...

Base price for that car is around $38,000. Cams are cheap...

How often do you really race around a track for it to matter? Roads are pretty straight around here
It may annoy you to hear 'ricer math' but it's hard to deny that $ = hp. IMO the GT500 is probably the best bang for buck at it's price point and the fact that it has an engine built to withstand mods with ease. Z06 is also excellent bang for buck when you compare it to cars it can match or beat that cost twice as much.
GT500 won out for me based on looks and the bang for buck factor....and I'm not 75 years old yet....lol....JUST KIDDING
