Default First time out- 04 GT

went to atco last night, only got two runs in and wasnt happy with either

my first run i left traction control on, not realizing, so it ruined my burnout and my 60 foot

RT- .565
60- 2.244
1/8- 8.717 @ 85mph
1/4- 13.297 @ 106

my second run i remembered to turn T/C off, but still need to get a better burnout. i tried dumping the clutch then getting on the brakes to burnout, but i think i got on brakes to hard or something. tires def didnt get hot enough

RT .440
60- 1.9
missed third, wouldn't go into fourth, so i coasted the rest of the way
1/4- 16.867 at 85mph !

i always miss third! what the hell is wrong with me. Im buying a shifter and hoping that'll help me a little. i have to be doing something wrong theres no reason i should miss third so consistently lol.

A shifter will help but also try moving your seat up as far as you can while still being able to shift comfortably. A little cramped is ok, you want to minimize the distance your leg and arm travel while maximizing your reactions and strength.

You need tires.

I cut a 1.7 60 foot an ran a 7.9 with 1 mph faster one ET Drags with basically the same mods you have.

Wait...omg....did cacimar just admit a light bolt-on GT with a 100 shot should be in the 12s?

12s should be no problem, but claiming you run low 12s without acutally running it is stupid kid. Should i claim my car is mid 11s high 11 second car just because of BIG Turbo ehhhhhh NO!!! IT IS NOT A 11 second car until i run that is that simple

Yeah shifter will be ordered monday. Tri-ax with FRPP **** from AM.

I need tires? no way, driver mod possibly. Im running 315 nitto D/R's that are brand new. I just cant drive. I ran 20 psi in the rear and launched at 4000k or a little higher. I need burnout advice.

When i tried the burnout i dumped the clutch and got on the brakes, but i was nervous being my first time out and that probably had a lot to do with it, i was only in a burnout for a split second. And my first run i had traction control on so there was no burnout.

Do you need a line lock to do a good burnout with a stick shift?

is there a better shifter than the steeda tri-ax i should look at?

thanks for quick replys guys!

btw driving on a drag strip feels so much faster than on the street. (also my second run, the 16 second one, i still beat the 240sx i was running against haha)

id be highly suprised if you ran any better than a 1.9 60 foot on those ****tos.

Nitto drags have nothing on a good set of ET Streets or ET Drags.

I mean i run 8.60s on motor with et drags to your 8.7 on a 100 shot, that should show you the lack of traction right there.

but my issue is getting a good burnout and obviously not missing a gear. Also i dont think it was lack of traction as much as leaving T/C on screwed that me up the worst. I'll hit the track again soon and hopefully get a clean run in. i should be in 12's

i could see going to ET drags if i didnt just buy nitto drag radials.

woh wait, you left the TC on when spraying nitrous?

Thats a big nono.

You should still be able to get into the 12s on the nittos.

You still have factory rear gear?

Rev it up and do a nice smokey burnout until you hear your tires screech, then they are hot enough. Find the launch where you are spinning just a hair or chirping and taking off. If you are running a factory rear end and you dead hook it, goodbye axle.
