Default Evo - New Build - E85 Tune - New numbers

Well, it's been awhile since I've posted here. Let's just say life has been a bit hectic this year with a new job in a different state. I did however find time to build the engine, add a few goodies and get a tune. I ended having a stg 3 block and head installed, 1000cc injectors, bigger cams and an additional fuel pump. The injectors and fuel pump were added so I could convert to E85. I'm tired of wondering if my alcohol is spraying or not which is not a good thing when it doesn't. Now, all I need to do is just fill up at the pump (E85). Here are the new numbers. I plan on hitting the track this Friday to see what I can get. Shooting for very high 10's but with these all season tires, I'm not putting any money on it. I'd like to at least get close with a 125+ trap.

Mike

can you run that high a psi on normal pump gas? The E85 is more expensive actually then your avg 93... you get a lot better gas milage on pump gas then E85. While you pay less per gallon for E85, you're putting more in monthly for E85....

I got a second tune for just 93 octane. Running 24psi, I made 380/345. I'll use this tune when it gets really cold up here. As far as the E85 goes, it's about $2.98 a gallon but I'll lose about 20% in fuel mileage which kind of makes it a wash. However, with the E85 I can run 29psi (It's 105 oct) I could run a bit more but I wanted a conservative tune because I do a lot of driving in the car. Going from running alcohol on top of 93, the car runs so much better and stronger. It's just so different then when I was running alcohol with 93oct.

I wouldn't think so. E85 seems like the safer bet. Don't know a whole lot about EVOs, but I'm assuming your running a smaller turbo (or real low compression) because at 29 PSI out of My 60-1 turbo I'd be around 520 WHP or so. Also, I wouldn't think you'd need that high octane of fuel for only 430 whp in an EVO, unless you can't get 93, 94 octane. Nice numbers regardless man. I've been looking into E85 myself. Thinking of getting a tune for E85 and water/meth

For me, E85 is the safer bet. You really need to have a good failsafe when running meth or alky. I have my AEM but I still didn't feel safe. The alky did finally go out on me so that's when I made the decision to go E85.

I am running a smaller turbo. It's the FP Green. I thought about going big but right now, I enjoy the quick spool of a smaller turbo better. To run the 29psi, I definitly need the high octane fuel. 424 on this dyno is a 10 second car with a good driver (not me). I'm hoping for at least an 11.2. But I'm more concerned with my trap speed. If I can hit 125+, I'll be happy regardless if I run 10's.

If you do go E85 and are somewhere north, they do change out the mixes throughout the year from E85/E75/E70. So, a tune on E85 will not run the same if you throw in E70 and not know it. That's why I also got a tune on 93oct @ 24psi. I made 380/345 on this.

Thanks, I didn't know that about the E85 bieng changed. I'm in Ohio, is that far enough north? I am going to run a few different tunes for different PSI that I'll be running on different fuels. Probably a 93 tune, e85 tune, 93 water /meth tune, along with e85/water/meth. I have to talk to my tuner to see what my engine management can do for me as far as fail safes.

Ha ha ha... Yeh. It's great to hear from you. Actually, I moved closer to the track we all went to that one time. I up here in Warsaw, IN, about 2 1/2 hours south of Chicago. To be honest, it's in the middle of no where. The best thing here is the E85! This new job has been keeping really busy. I stayed in temporary housing for 3 months, then bought a house and moved the family up. Let's just say there were a lot of bumps in the road during the move, especially when my $1,500 fridge fell out the back of the moving truck!

Anyway, good to hear from you. We'll have to do one of those track trips next year when the season starts back up! By the way, how's the car running?
