See but your still not getting it. Your car is a faster car then a '09 WRX. The reason that it has superior 0-60 numbers is because it has all wheel drive. It will hit 20mph in half the time your car will. But in actuality it would be rare for you to lose to a WRX on the street. First of most races are from a roll, which you will have because your car is faster. ie. The WRX runs a faster 0-60 time then gets run down by the 1/4 mile. Second of all most Rex owners have no idea how to launch the car to obtain a 0-60 time anywhere close to what magazines get. It requires dumping the clutch at like 5k. Even if they did know how to launch it, this style of launching the car is hell on a clutch and most WRX's probably only have like 10 of these launchs in them before the clutch is toast and then their car is a 6 second 0-60 car.
Runs down in the 1/4 mile? From the 09 WRX times ive seen they will beat a Mustang GT all the way through the quarter mile. Sure the AWD car will eventually get run down on a top end run, but for everyday racing I would say the WRX is faster, and lets not forget that its really more of a track car than anything.
You can't say one car is faster than the other in this.

Yes, the 09 WRX will keep up with an s197. In the 1/4. And on the street from a dig the advantage goes handily to the WRX. It's 0-60 is clearly a step up over the s197.

unless you have enough power off the line (TC/gears etc.) they will ALWAYS get the launch if driven right. EVO 9 MRs are even more nasty lol.
For '09 they've changed to an STi turbo for the WRX and increased advertised HP to 265, which means from a dig it will certainly get the jump on the heavier RWD Mustang GT with the GT pulling even and away toward the end of the 1320.
It is a performance bargain, no doubt. But those trannies are still glass, and it's still ugly.
Watched a stock WRX today (wow they look ...different than the previous years)... he ran a best of 13.4 @ 100mph... I was shocked.
Makes me wonder what subaru did to increase the performance so much. I know the horsepower boost will help but it seems like that can't account for all of it. The new one totally dominates the previous year models.
