Default Roll racing is lame...

I just wanted to put it out there that roll racing is about as lame as it gets! I don't even truly understand the logic behind it.

Hey guys, check me out, my car is so powerful, and I'm so horrible at driving my car that I can only race people while the car is already moving. I'd be embarrassed to ask someone to roll race me. It's almost like admitting you're purely retarded at driving.

Here's a prime example....

If car A is a monster out of the hole but falls on it's face after the 1/8th , but car B is a slug out of the hole and is a monster after it gets going...Wouldn't you want to prove you don't need a handicap to win? isn't the whole point of drag racing not only who's better, but who can better handle their car?

If your car sucks out of the hole, shouldn't you concentrate on making it up after the fact, rather than asking for someone to start from a roll because you can't take off worth ****, or your car has to much power to get out of the hole efficiently?

I see so many posers that will only race from a roll because lame excuses. Don't people get that roll racing isn't even a racing event for a reason?! BECAUSE IT DOESN'T PROVE ANYTHING!!! ANYONE CAN MAKE A CAR FAST, BUT DRAG RACING (which means from a complete stop) SHOWS NOT ONLY HOW FAST YOUR CAR IS, BUT HOW GOOD THE DRIVER IS!!

Am I just a pure crackhead, or do others agree with me on this?

Drunk rant over

No I don't. For instance on this site we will bench race two cars, not two drivers. I don't want to end up hearing about how driver A was spinning out of the hole and driver B took the win.

If you have two cars and simply want to know which is faster why not a 20mph punch?

For bragging rights between two guys you should definitely do it from a dig. But again if you just want to know who's car is faster, do a roll. Racing from a dig brings a ton of excuses to the table. "Oh you won, but I bogged it real bad off the line." So on and so forth.

Plus sometimes its really impractical to find a good place to run a dig.

Calling roll racing "lame" seems to be the cool thing to say on automotive forums these days. Guess I'm not that hardcore or something but I really think it serves a purpose.

If you win or lose either way it's still a loose or a win... dosen't really matter to me really.

Winning is winning and losing is losing.

O-:

I used to race my 05 dodge srt-4 from both a dig and a roll, something most skittles around here never did. I gave alot of props to most turbo swapped honda owners here that would race from a DIG 99% of the time. If you KNOW your car is fast it isn't a problem lol.

Whats wrong with roll racing? When your running alot of power going from a roll is better sometimes, you dont have to worry about spinning the tires as much. I know my lingenfelter vette would just smoke the tires for the first couple gears if I tried to race from a dig. I guess it didnt matter they usually needed the head start.

I don't think saying roll racing is lame is the "Cool" thing to say. I just think it's for posers that can't drive!

So let me follow your logic gtragtop...are you honestly insinuating that a person that makes excuses when losing from a dig, will not make excuses when losing from a roll? Those people have inferiority complexes and will always come up with some reason why they lose. Roll racing won't stop the BS.

I just think it's gay how it's suddenly becoming cool to race from a roll. That's like saying if you get one HUGE real built tough guy that has no endurance, and one smaller ripped guy with tons of endurance, put them in a ring, but make them run 5 miles before the race to even things up for the smaller guy, it would be fair right?!

It makes no sense!

The speed of the car is not limited only to the power of the car! It also is gauged by how the other things are setup. For instance the suspension, gearing, differentials, drivetrain etc, etc.

Why do you think there is no true professional racing from a roll? BECAUSE IT PROVES NOTHING!!

People that think roll racing proves truly how fast their cars are, honestly shows they aren't to knowledgeable about cars...

HAHA! No...I just get so annoyed reading all of these roll race stories. Then whenever I challenge a lot of guys around here they will only go from a roll, which I refuse since it's gay. Then, finally I hear about how johnny fatpockets thinks he owns gods vehicle because he can beat car B from a roll! ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGH!

People are such puss's!!!!!

Wahhh! My car can't take off from a dig! GO GET A BETTER SUSPENSION SETUP, BETTER TIRES, BETTER DRIVETRAIN, AND LEARN HOW TO FREAKING LAUNCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's guys with funny cars that have MUUUUUCHH more power than most of these roll racers have, and they come out of the hole like animals. Maybe people need to concentrate on more than just engine mods. Then there wouldn't be so many excuses!

Ya I don't know anything...... The two types of racing are good for measuring different things. No matter what the "guy with the endurance" will eventually win, unless the "HUGE real built tough guy that has no endurance" lets off early.
