I've got a buddy with a Honda prelude, not sure what year, I think a 97-2001 model. He's bone stock and I am too (07 4.0 Mustang). Who would win in this race? I can't find any good stats on his car online... Anyone know?
Next I raced another buddy in his 2005 Acura TSX a while ago just for fun, I knew I would win (which I did). He was planning on trading his TSX in for a 04 Lancer Evolution... I begged him to but now he's on some TSX Forums and they've brainwashed him into buying a Supercharger for his car that only adds 35 horsepower, and costs $4,995. I told him he was nuts and for that price trade in his car and get the Evo, or for that even trade in his car, get a Mustang GT and supercharge that. But he's stuck on the idea his TSX would be "amazing" if he put a supercharger in it, a body kit on it, and some huge rims. All in all he wants to put about 10K in it. I've tried talking him out of it.......
So anyways after all of his mods are done he plans to have a Supercharger + a few other minor engine mods (and exterior). Who would win in a race then? I think we would be pretty even but I'm not sure.
Oh and you have to remember my shorty antenna gives me AT LEAST 25 extra horsepower to the wheels.

Might be close with the prelude at higher speeds...
Those TSX's are nice cars to drive in, and I'm sure your buddy will see more torque than power increases from it, although paying that much for so little more peak HP...................
I'll say driver's race w/ the Prelude. As for the TSX, they're pretty nice cars, and the K24 is a pretty solid modding platform. A supercharger, VTEC controller, and bolt-ons would make that thing mean, believe me....

I am suprrised that your race with the Acura wasn't neck and neck. They had 205 crank hp and weigh about the same as a Mustang. He should pull you if he goes forced induction. You should beat the prelude.

I've never actually raced but according to my dyno numbers. I should run 8s on street tires.

We raced from a stoplight and I had him all the way there easily, and from a 40 roll and I got him really good there too... maybe he's just a bad driver??
Eitherway I would never put money into a TSX or something like that because I would imagine after you put the parts in the car they are of little value when you wanna sell it. And 5K for such little horsepower to me seems outrageous
I'm going to try to call up my friend with the Prelude and see if he wants to go for a 'spin' later today. I'll also give my friend with the Audi 3.2 a call and see if he wants to come for a spin. Now where do I tell my gf I'm going?! :P

I'm with you. Thats the most retarded thing I've ever heard. 35 horse power for 5 grand plus the cost of installation. You could throw a cold air intake and tune on your car and gain that much horse power for about $500 0r $600 and do all the work yourself.

+1. It should've been closer. Is his TSX an automatic? If he gets that supercharger and minor bolt-ons, he'll be a good bit quicker than you.
I don't believe you'll have any issues with the Prelude.

The 35hp gain he is looking at is probably 35whp on an otherwise stock TSX running a low 4-6 psi. If he does bolt-ons, he's going to gain way more. If he bumps his boost up on top of that, even more gains. A CAI, tune, and exhaust isn't going to enable you to take down a supercharged TSX imo, especially if he does bolt-ons and a pulley swap. He should be able to get 250whp out of that TSX pretty easily.

I'll agree w/ you on the price issue, however, all that's being looked at is peak hp gain. And everyone in this section of the forum should know that means diddly-squat. The gains the car will pick up throughout the entire powerband will be considerable, especially the low end. And of course, that is the area in Honda engines that most needs improvede upon. And as said, you can be sure that is on an otherwise stock engine. A good tune and bolt-ons would make that TSX a very healthy car. Granted it would't be raping Mach 1's or LS1's or anything, but still....
