I would bet that he downshifted to far... and only had a little RPM in the gear he was in... which is why he shifted twice... All cars have that weak point right in between to high for one gear and to low for another... see but the other funny thing is that our cars redline later then yours.. even with the gears it sounds like he was in 4th way to quickly... What was your mph? He could also be lieing.
Like everyone here has said a full bolt on Mach would torch you -- I know with just the things i have 4.30, spacer, intake and exhaust I have killed S197's that weren't geared, or didn't have much but intake and exhaust...
On another note.. the S197 isn't to slow either.. it's around .2-.5 slower then a mach stock to stock depending on driver and what not...
Yea, the Mach's driver kinda beating himself looks like. Hard to tell with such a short jaunt though, doesn't really tell a whole lot unless one car is making serious buck over the other. I'll agree with the consesus......he would have started walking off if the race had time to find some legs.

Like every one said, stock for stock it should be up to the drivers who wins. A full bolt on Mach with 4.10s would be way to much for your car if driven properly. You always could have beat the driver, not the car.

Who knows how is car is running with all those bolt-ons. We are all assuming his car is running properly.
My buddies Mach 1 had a C&L cold air setup and a catback and put down 250 something to ground. It was running really lean with the C&L and put down crap numbers.

Not true.. Mach 1 beats S197 with equal drivers.. by a bit. Mach 1 beats S197 with fairley lesser driver...
RIMS! Those DD Bullitts may have played a role along with driver error. I have those rims and my car feels a lot slower ugh....I say good kill because you destroyed the driver.
