Saw one in person at the car expo last weekend. It was one ugly SOB, imo. I just don't see it selling very well considering its subjective looks and the market being in the condition its in. I hope it does well, but Idk man.
Sorry about getting OT. Continue gentleman.

Geez, that's a lot to spend on a depreciable asset.
Damn straight. That's why I try to buy everything with cash. At least if you get rid of it, you don't have to pay someone else and hope you're not upside down on the loan. I'm amazed at some of my friends and wonder how anyone will even let them borrow money with such a high income/debt ratio. Especially knowing they won't get near what they pay for the car (cars) they have.
On insurance, I pay $700 every 6 months for a '07 Grand Prix GT, a 1997 Maxima, and a '00 Corvette. It's cheaper to pay for a full term. I'm 24 years old btw, so it's still pretty cheap.
You're obviously much faster in the quarter. Comparing 60 foot times though, you barely beat me (my best is 1.74). The point is, from a starting start, the Mustang in the video originally posted wins, probably by a couple lengths at minimum (and it's basically a stock car with a passenger). I'm basically wondering why everyone is blowing a load over this colbalt. If roll racing becomes the new standard I guess it's an awesome car. If one lines up with me at the track, it better be packing more power, otherwise it's over in the first 60 feet.
It can still be modded to pull a good 60'. BlueBeast is a prime example of what a FWD can do. Even still, I've pulled many a car thru the 60' mark, only to be run down and passed before the end of the 1/4.

good race...the new cobalts are quick cars. There was a 2008 SS/TC at the AutoShow with some Hahn goodies on it putting out 330hp+ and another older SS/SC with a hahn turbo swap that was putting around 410hp. I was impressed.

You could be right, but face it, most races happen on the roll unless you catch a light, or are at the track. Even so, BB is a good example of what a person with a lot of seat time can do. FWD doesn't seem to hinder him all that badly. I think people are "blowing a load" about the car because it's a great runner considering price, stock performance, and future modability considering how well turbo cars respond to mods. Don't get all butt hurt because people are giving a car due props.

I dont know what your fascination is with being able to outsixty a front drive car is but like you pointed out. I out sixtied you with a little luck and a good set of tires. Why couldn't the same be done in a Cobalt? I don't think anyone is blowing their loads but you gotta give it up to a car that can almost hang in a straight line and lose you in the twisties for less money.

I've never actually raced but according to my dyno numbers. I should run 8s on street tires.
