Better just to drop three bills and get a great custom cam. Jay Allen makes the best SBF cam on the planet. http://www.camshaftinnovations.com/

i disagree, we got a guy here that will do better, while a custom cam would be Preferable, sometimes it's not an option

There are tons of satisfied members in the 5.0 section that would love to debate with you on that. Go to SBFtech.com, probably the most knowledgeable SBF forum on the internet and see what the members there choose. He is one of the only "true" custom cam makers that specializes in SBF's. You have to have heard of him. Not worth debating though, you own a 4v.

Sometimes people should just save up until they can afford the right parts. I mean a great cam versus and a off the shelf cam is like comparing GT40's and AFR 165's IMO.

Well, I guess we can all at least agree that I need to upgrade my camshaft. There's a local guy that makes custom cams, heard some good things about him, but when it came down to it, myself having little experience/knowledge at all, i just felt more comfortable with an "off the shelf" brand. Quite honestly, if anything I would just go with more agressive FR cam.

Please just ask some of the experienced members in the 5.0L general discussion.

I'm going to say you'll need to spray to break 11's. A stockish c4 will be a sticking point. I'll say the juice will put you in the 11.5 to 11.7 range.

I've never actually raced but according to my dyno numbers. I should run 8s on street tires.

thats fine, like i said sometimes it's not an option. if you can't afford it and find an OTS grind will do and keep you on the track. they can say whatever they want, but the guy here has been doing custom cams since 1960's.
but like you said i own a 4v...i don't have to work as hard to make more power than your OLD motor

personally, i'll take an OTS cam and stay on the track, than have everything but a cam and not racing.

I have seen STOCK cam cars run in the 11's N/A, granted they were 5 speed cars and were on the lighter side, but it still can be done. Oh yea they had GT40 heads and intakes too. The mistake most make is keeping the stock valve springs. They are enough for a stock cam, much less ANYTHING bigger.

You're definately gonna need a stall. I made a video a LONG time ago when I first got one in my old car.

Note that the above is the exception to the rule and not the rule. There are some amazing builders and drivers out there that can make alot of power and speed from not alot of parts. The above combo is essentially what 93 Cobra's came with and they usually put down 230-240rwhp and struggle to get into the 13's.
