This was my first time out with sticky tires. I am using(bought on craigslist) MT ET Streets 26x11.5x17 on stock GT rims. My first 3 passes were around 14psi. I wanted it to be higher, but my track did not have their air pump out yet. Anyways, the 3rd run, it was floating very badly around the 1000'. I let out of it in fear ofm losing control. Afterwards, I drove to the nearest gas station and put in 18psi total.
Made a few more passes. It did not hook quite as good, but the floating was reduced. It is still there though. But from what I hear this floating is normal?

I am going to try to sell these ET Streets in hopes of picking up some ET Radials.
Last season I made 3 passes with the radials. I didnt do nearly as good with them, although that was on stock LCA's and the wheel hop was appallingly bad.

Pretty nice slip considering the conditions. I carry one of those cheap little compressors you plug into you lighter just so I can make adjustments after each run.

I've never actually raced but according to my dyno numbers. I should run 8s on street tires.
yes bias ply do get squirmy on the big end, radials do much better
get some upgraded LCAs and that will help your wheel hop.

You can never have too much power, just not enough traction. 11.867 @ 119.35
Very normal. It was unnerving at first (going through the traps at 120+ with the rear end dancing doesn't feel very safe), but you get use to it. You will realize that the little bit of float is normal and not worry so much (I've been running my ET Streets at 13-14 psi). The way a radial tire reacts and the way a bias-ply tire reacts are different. Bias Ply tires react more instantly, while a radial tire has more pause before it is going react, this helps conduce the oversteer feeling.
