Default Kerns vs SRT-4 Neon

So was on my way home from work today and I am driving along and I pull up to this blue 04 SRT-4 Neon and the guy throws me a rev and goes "is that thing fast?" I just kinda shrugged and said its decent. Asked him if he wanted to run and he said sure, told me to go first and he would catch up. Went from a 35mph roll and put a car on him on the initial hit, then put another car on him to about 90mph where I slowed down. I said "I thought you were going to catch up?" We went again from a 30roll this time (little low but whatever). He left first and I was with him until I had to shift into 3rd and I let off the clutch too early and forced myself to miss 3rd and when I got it into gear I was a car and a half behind. I ended up staying with him and slowly closing the gap until about 90mph when he shut down and I was about a car back.

We ended up pulling over and talking for a bit. He asked me what all I had done and I told him, he said he had a little bit of stuff done and was running 22psi but I don't remember what else. Cool guy and a pretty clean looking car.

Cliff Notes: Went 1 and 1 with an SRT-4 running 22psi from a 30-35mph roll

Nice win. The stock turbo wont hold 22 PSI. And upgraded turbo wouldn't have lost.

I've never actually raced but according to my dyno numbers. I should run 8s on street tires.

Nice win. SRTs can get very nasty very quickly.

Yeah, I thought they run like 14psi stock and you can upgrade to like 18psi or something. We exchanged numbers so I'm sure I'll see him again and maybe get some real info on what all he has done. I do know the car is an 04 with 14k miles on it. Will the stock turbo handle 22psi just not for long or will it not even make 22psi?

It should probably make it but in no way sustain it. It will run out of breath fairly quickly. I wish I could find races as easily as you and STKjock. Everytime I turn around I'm reading a kill story from one of you!

I know what you mean. I used to live in San Jose, ca. Plenty of opportunity for a run. There are a lot of expressway's with stop lights. And a lot of people looking to run. The town i live in now there is only the freeway and rarely see anything worth running anyway. It all depends on where you live i guess.

It'll spike to 22 on gear changes but will drop to 18 then it will fade to 15 above 5000 rpm. Thats pretty amazing it only has 14G miles on it. I have the same car and I thought my car was a pretty low miles car with 60G. It's a good rivally between your year mustang (99-04) & the skittles

Some of them truely drive me up the wall...
