Default 08 GT vs 08 G8 GT

Alright guys I raced my friend with him G8 now that he has his tune. Every time I raced him I had intake/tune and offroad H with a manual. I beat him when he was all stock, then when he had intake only. Yesterday we raced for the first time with his tune , he has an automatic. We took it from a dig and went up to 120-130. As soon as we took off, we were pretty even until about 30-35 when he shifted into 2nd and he started pulling away. By the end of the race he beat me by two cars … Ran it twice with similar results. That tune did amazing thigns to his car. He now chirps the tires in 2nd and its sooo much more responsive. It sucked loosing because I have always beat him, but now -- Time for more mods.

Alternative Auto out here in Michigan just bought a new G8 (their new project) and bone stock it ran 13.5 @ 102 w/2.0 60ft. and dynoed 312 rwhp. With CAI and in house tuning it ran 13 flat @ 106 w/2.0 60ft, and dynoed 340 rwhp.

The owner was telling me he was blown away at how well it responded to these two simple mods.

Yeah i can confirm how well they respond to those mods lol. Even when he had JUST intake, i was beating him, but that tune woke his car UP ! Add full exhaust and cams and i bet they get to 400-420?

Damn your car has a lot of bling (if thats it in the sig)...
The G8 GT is basically a a slightly detuned version 4-door 2010 camaro so yeah, I would assume they're quick lol. I may purchase one in the next year or two once the stang is paid for....if they're still available.

My next vehicle will definitely be a sedan, truck or suv. I'm burnt on the coupe already lol. It will become my play/track car.

True....and if you only have a canned/mail order tune find a good dyno-tuner in your area. You'd be amazed what a good dyno tune can achieve over a mail order. You'd probably be within 1 car at that point.... then some 3.73/4.10 gears to offset those big ol' chrome 20's and he would be toast .

Don't feel bad OP. The G8s are strong cars, especially once they lose the stock tune. Just get a good dyno tune and some 4.10s (as previously stated) and you should be fine..... until he does more mods that is, lol!

And when he tries more mods, drop a mere $3500 on a vortech basic kit. Buh-bye G8 .
