You can never have too much power, just not enough traction. 11.867 @ 119.35
Weather plays a big role on a lot of newer cars. The higher compression they run to get the mileage and emissions at part throttle, can result in the computer pulling timing when the temps warm up outside to help resist detonation, and depending on the engine setup, some can be quite sensitive to timing changes. The SRT8 is rated at 425hp, but the weather around here effects them enough that at the track I doubt they're putting out much more than 350-375hp.
With the same given test conditions(sea level, mean temp of 20* C etc), 2 engines might make different power, but as the weather changes the more powerful engine might react more negatively. It all depends on how they're set up and tuned. Based on what I've seen at the track around here, is that the 3V doesn't respond as negatively to adverse weather as the SRT8 does.

13.20's with 2.25-2.30 60's, 40+ year old suspension sucks!
Best trap 107.11mph, we'll see what the new intake/carb setup does.
12.80 at 110.5mph NHRA DA corrected

Which are not done at a strip. Since when are the buff books times out of reach for a driver at the strip?
Your right. But, what i was getting at is your assuming the chally driver was as good and we don't know that. Plus depending at what mph they started at the chally could have been in a less optimal rpm thus loosing some speed.

True but the OP didn't start pulling on him till the end of 3rd gear, not a 60mph where the the big Hemi's have their dead spot. Thats why I was confused by the outcome. The street is the street though, good runs
OP.
on top of that, most magazines show a Stock Mustang GT running 13's @ about 104. Not many people actually see that unless they are at low altitude, with great air and a great track! I was running 14.3@98 stock... which seemed to be pretty average around here. I watched 2 other stock GTs runing 14.3-14.5 that night, 1 auto and 1 stick. So i'm running almost a full second faster than my stock times. I've noticed Magazine times are not so accurate for real world scenarios... except for those lucky bastards in Florida :-P

I see this a lot, even when I raced one,
can someone please TELL ME if that DEAD SPOT IS DUE to the physical engine, or programming?
