I was just thinking about 67Mustang's post about the newer motors being prone to PCM detuning when its hot because of detonation. I was just half kidding saying, if they had some 100 octane they could run without the computer pulling timing, and therefore run their "425 HP"
Oh I got you...I don't believe they pull timing due to detonation honestly, it's usually an IAT / Tune thing... they pull timing as a precaution instead of reacting to the detonation. In those cases I don't see higher octane helping but I see what you were saying there. Thats why I asked.

Yeah, once you're up to triple digit speeds, a mile gets covered VERY quickly. The 1/4 gives you room to accelerate because you start off at 0, so you aren't covering the distance very rapidly, but once you're up over 100, that last 4,000ft goes by really quickly, and you don't get going a whole lot faster, especially in some cars.

Who cares how much horsepower it has, all that matters is how fast it goes!
13.20's with 2.25-2.30 60's, 40+ year old suspension sucks!
Best trap 107.11mph, we'll see what the new intake/carb setup does.
12.80 at 110.5mph NHRA DA corrected
Nail on the head!!! the standing mile is brutal and I think it would shock people here to see what most cars pull in a standing mile.
Yea, I can't imagine many stock cars pulling incredibly high speeds in a standing mile. If you're already pulling 100mph in the 1/4 mile, that means you're gonna be FLYING throught the rest of the mile. A mile would probable come in about 30 seconds or less. Hitting 150 in 30 seconds isn't that easy to do.

It's dead zone, where the race started was no where near it's top end. :P

There's a video online where a Civic Si hit 150 given some time; do you have the link? That is very surprising...

No duh, the SRT8 Challenger is what, 10-15k more expensive than a S197 GT Premium. The GT500 is more in the price range of that hoss.
Is the Challenger Drive by wire? The lag in the pedal could give just a little bit of an edge to the other car in a roll race.
