Not unless you make some series power, then running out of RPM is an issue.

Negative. Like 83 stated, unless you have enough HP to run out of gear in 5th, gears will increase your top end capabilities, raise your trap speed, make 5th gear pulling gear instead of an OD, etc.

I ran mine up to 163 (gps indicated) with 4.10's and 20'' wheels running against a Mk3 supra (stock). Still had more left but let off out of fear of losing my license... forever.

Haha wow, this thread has gone on longer than it should have. Went from OP just barely winning to people saying the SRT8 is junk because of price (based on HP/TQ ratings alone, though who it's coming from doesn't really mean much, I mean same dude was saying the same thing about 03/04 Cobras lol), to gears...

People keep forgetting even though these cars have a claimed 425 @ the flywheel they are pushing 4k+lbs, and still pull respectable times (regardless of a lot of asshats owning them)... The price is what it is over the standard R/T is because of limited production, better suspension, better motor (no ****), and a couple other things. Get over it.

Seems the SRT8 is the new El Es Jaun on forums as of late, but it's all cool I suppose. Couple of years ago all that was said is how heavy it is, slow for what it is, etc... And just now it is gaining a little bit of respect, though there are still asshats who seem to be a bit put off about another car being faster than theirs, or in their minds not living up to the hype (perceived or real).

Anyhow, carry on.

I would, but it'd take too long to get there.

you'd have to find some posts of me claiming that because I don't recall saying anything like that about them. It's funny how it seems so many people get these twisted versions of what I say in their minds..

You did say that. Remember our little 20 page battle? You were comparing the S197 GT to an 03/04 Cobra, as far as best bang for buck.

The SRT-8 is a way better performer than the R/T in every way. Better motor, suspension, brakes, appearance package, limited production, etc.

It may cost around 45K for an SRT-8, but at least 99% of the population and what not don't drive them, unlike the Famed R/T Model.

Also, How does a car with 4.10 gears do 160+, when a buddy runs out of Gear with 4.10's @ 140 and cannot rev his motor any higher?
