The SRT-8 is a way better performer than the R/T in every way. Better motor, suspension, brakes, appearance package, limited production, etc.

It may cost around 45K for an SRT-8, but at least 99% of the population and what not don't drive them, unlike the Famed R/T Model.

Also, How does a car with 4.10 gears do 160+, when a buddy runs out of Gear with 4.10's @ 140 and cannot rev his motor any higher?
Yes you did say that.

WORD

While the R/T is nice, I like the appearance moreover on the SRT and the Obvious performance difference.

Also, people are saying there is only a 25-30 HP difference between the two?

R/T has 370HP with Auto, and 375 Manual. and 398TQ Auto, and 404 Manual. SRT is rated at 425HP, and 420 TQ, with a higher redline, better and bigger motor, etc.

Anyhow...

The S197 does not run out of gear at 140 mph with 4.10s, not by a long shot. I just had my needle buried on the way to work one morning last week. My Mach with 4.10s would bounce off the 155 mph governor with lots of gear left as well.

edit... the GT is set at a 6500 rev limit, the Mach was at the stock 6800 rpm limit.

You have an increased Redline, that is why. My friend's GT is still set at 6250, and runs out. My friends Blown Mach 1, with 4.30 Gears, runs out around 135 MPH before he is redlining his car.

I also bet it takes a while to get to 160+ in an N/A GT without any kind of power adder and only bolt-ons.

It gets there quicker than you may think, although I'm not sure about the 160 mph part since the speedo doesn't read that high lol, but it will bury the needle within a 1.5 miles or so from a 60 mph roll.

Top speed with 4.10 and Manual Transmission in an S197 GT is about 183 with a 6250RPM Rev limit, and 190 w/6500rpm Rev limit. This is going by the math. The actual acheivable speed depends, on the amount of power you are making, if you are even able to finish 5th gear. It also depends on what size tire you are running, it will change the speed by a few mph.
