On my way to drive a friend home today, I pass a G8 with "V" badges (from a CTS-V) on the trunk. Thinking it's a total joke, I don't do anything and continue on in 5th gear and low rpms. It seems like it's a V6 anyways consider there is only two exhaust tips (I believe the GT and GXP have 4). As I'm driving, he gets right up next to me, just thinking he's really not much (he had the ghetto fast and furious way of holding the steering wheel) I chirp my exhaust a little as I drop it to 4th. We get some clear road ahead, I drop it to 2nd.. then he downshifts... oh God it's a V8. I have beaten G8 GTs before, but seeing (and hearing the exhaust), along with him downshifting.. which GTs are mostly automatics... I have no idea what it is. From a 2nd gear roll... 35 mph to about 75 (not much of a race but he PULLED) he had about a full car on me. I'm next to him in traffic.. I ask him what's in there. He responds.. almost confused.. "uhh.. a 415." A 6.8L???? So what I'm thinking is he bought a G8 GXP with the 6.2L LS3 and bored it out to a 6.8L? It was fast.. but honestly I don't beat myself up over losses to American V8s, especially since my car isn't close to done. My mods are BBK LTs, MAC 3" Catback, SCT Custom Tune (however, my battery was disconnected then reconnected right before going out... did my car still have the tune?), Steeda Tri-Ax and a CAI. Any thoughts of what the thing was?
Cliffs:
G8 pulls up next to me with V badges.. seeing that it only has 2 exhaust tips I assume it's a V6 and some guy who thinks it's fast. Well.. it is fast.. and according to him it's a 415 (6.8L). From 35-75 he puts a car on me. Mods are listed in 2nd last sentence of paragraph.

Well a G8 GXP has 415hp. That was a very short race so not to surprised that he only jumped a car or so on you. As far as the exhaust goes, they do come with quad tips but maybe he had an aftermarket aftercat setup?

Yeah that must've been it. Sorry for all of the confusion.. I was pretty confused too... haha. I think the results would've been a little better from a dig (up to a certain point). I know the LSx engines are wicked, my dad has a CTS-V, but they're beatable no? If I had a KB blower wouldn't I be able to take this guy?
BBK Long Tube Headers, BBK Catted H-Pipe, MAC 3" Catback, SCT Custom Tune (through AM.com), Steeda Short Throw Shifter, 245/40/18s in front with 285/35/18s out back
It was from an odd spot in 2nd gear too (30-35mph.. I have the 3.27 rear gear stockers), and as I know LSx engines have a strong suit of roll racing.

Yes, easily.

No way, that GXP would pull him hard up top. OP's race was very short, much too short to get walked by much more then he did. Had he raced him to triple digit speeds it would have been a few car lengths. 4.10's wouldn't change that.
