just saying... for a 14 second type S... it could have been a decent race with a tad bit of money into the turbocoupe
at Ubly last year there was a red turbocoupe that broke loose goiing into 2nd and did multiple barrel rolls over into the other lane
I think it was an 10-11 second car still on the 2.3L
Yeah man that would have been an awesome race, that's pretty darn close to where I'm probably at! I was hoping this guy would at least have an exhaust / boost controller or something.
What was different about the Thunderbird and the SVO? Was the Thunderbird like a more plush version, or were they two separate cars?

^ The SVO is the turbro'd 4cyl Fox body Mustang made from 1984-1986 (They made other turbo Foxes too.)
They both use the turbo 2.3, but the SVO's were about as quick as the 5.0 Mustangs at the time..
FWIW:The Super Coupe T-Birds followed the Turbo Coupes, and used a S/C 3.8 V6. SVO later became SVT to bring us the Cobra, Cobra R, and Lightning in 1993.

Correct, they made turbo'd Mustang from '79-'81. They stopped making it in the US in '82 because of poor reliability, although they did keep it available in Canada. They then brought it back as the Turbo GT in '83 and built that until '84. So in '84 you could get either a Turbo'd GT or a SVO.

the thunderbird was slightly de-tuned and had close to an 800lbs weight disadvantage on the SVO
the detune only hindered the car 5-15BHP and 5-15lbs tq on the manual but the automatics suffered something horrible and made 40BHP less than the manual counterparts due to ford worrying about the A4LD, but also could be fixed with a simple tune
other than that same engine and same transmission
