Default Type-S: 1 T-bird Turbo Coupe: 0

On the way to an appointment last night I pulled up to a red light with what looked like a fox body mustang. It had the thunderbird emblem on the front though and had "Turbo Coupe" written on the side. We both took off normally from the light and then I could tell he was getting on it. I put the hammer down and as soon as my car downshifted and hit the powerband I put probably 3.5-4 cars on him by 70mph.

Did some research and it isn't really that impressive of a kill, but I was hoping he may have been modded due to the turbo. It looks like those cars have a 2.3L turbocharged inline 4 (boxer?) with 190hp and 240 torques. Anyway it looked like it was in pretty good shape and I haven't seen them around much before. Any of you guys run into these? Specs say they run 16.3 in the 1/4 stock so the results sound about right.

You might be the first to post a Turbo Coupe kill on this board

Nice find, not something you see everyday, for sure.

I've seen a couple pretty fast ones at the track, but I really don't know what all they had done. There's a guy on here with an older modded turbo 4 Mustang, runs low 13s I think. Maybe he'll chime in.

It's not a boxer motor. Turbo'd 4 bangers have come along way in the last twenty something years. That motor made good power for the time and was respectably quick in a lighter Mustang SVO.

Yeah I remember there's a guy here with a modded turbo 4banger Stang that was pretty sweet. Is it the same motor as the SVO?

I know it was disappointing for me too, I was hoping he was modded, but I didn't even hear his exhaust so I'm guessing he was probably stock.

just saying... for a 14 second type S... it could have been a decent race with a tad bit of money into the turbocoupe

at Ubly last year there was a red turbocoupe that broke loose goiing into 2nd and did multiple barrel rolls over into the other lane

I think it was an 10-11 second car still on the 2.3L
