Default Ferrari Testarossa

Just a funny story from a few min ago.

Its really nice out, and a buddy was in the Titan with me - We were on the way out to my parents house to pick up my little boat. Anyways, we turned off the highway onto one county road and noticed a Ferrari Testarossa behind us. He followed us for two miles and turned down the next county road we did. Its a very sharp s-curve, blind in one spot.. and I take it a little quick with him right on my ass.. We pull out of the curve and I hammer it a bit a head of him and pull away a bit. About 80 he catches me and i just let off.. no reason to keep going, roll my window down, and listen to him fly past me. Very sexy sound.

Just a fun little encounter.. I wish I was in the Corvette instead of the Titan.

is the car

Just so no one decides to call bs:
They were rated (think it was a later 80's) at 380hp (5750rpm) and 354tq (4500 rpm)
My 2008 Pickup is rated 320hp (5200rpm) and 385tq(3200rpm).
It's not really surprising coming out of the corner at about 30mph that I jumped way out.. Took him a while ot rev up and catch me.. But it was entertaining.

Yeah, he was building rev's... and probably being VERY careful with this car!!! I'd love to hear one at full tilt blow by me!!

Much more important than the HP/Torque #'s.. how much do those things weigh??? I'm guessing about 3k with that power/mid-engine and close gearing. Your vette may have had the same experience.

these wiki guys lol. what year did you wiki? ah, wiki'd myself. 3200 lbs I was close. That's like trying to race an LS2 vette in your truck. Or even in your 74' vette. Then we have the mid-engine and forged wheels, super expensive lightweight tires. Many variables and that is one bad ass car.

The Testarossas are nothing like a modern Ferrari. Remember, they were developed in the 80's when everyone was having to fight to try and make performance while meeting emissions, and not really knowing what they were doing. But low 13's for a production car in the mid 80's was pretty fast.

13.20's with 2.25-2.30 60's, 40+ year old suspension sucks!
Best trap 107.11mph, we'll see what the new intake/carb setup does.
12.80 at 110.5mph NHRA DA corrected

This is true, just look at what the Mustangs and Z28s were running in the 80's, 15 and 16+ second 1/4 miles. Jesus, the Testarossa was moving compared to your average ride.

Yeah. The typical American V8 performance car of the 80's was slower than a lot of modern 4 cylinder performance cars, in some cases much slower.

Some good things came out of the 80s.

V8 performance cars not so much.

Mid to late 70s were even worse. GM put out some disgusting 350s. 145hp 350ci w00t
