Default 2009 East Coast S197 Mustang Shootout (11-1-09) NC

2009 East Coast S197 Mustang Shootout

Announcement

Five Guys Racing is pleased to announce the First Annual East Coast S197 Mustang Shootout at Rockingham Dragway in Rockingham, North Carolina, on Sunday, November 1, 2009. “The Rock” provides a centrally located, easily accessed facility on the Eastern seaboard complete with concessons, sponsor space, and nearby hotels.

The event was originally intended to focus on the 4.0L and 4.6L naturally aspirated S197's with six index, side-by-side race classes. However, due to popular demand the forced induction crowd is invited to participate in six additional classes for added excitement. The facility will manage a Sportsman ladder, and racers will face a .5 Pro Tree, half second indexes, and .10 breakout rules in effect. The overall emphasis is on street cars you can live with and drive every day, so all cars must be tagged and registered, and cannot be gutted. Winners in each class will receive trophies. Other awards are also being developed for items such as "best 60 foot", "Best R/T", "longest road trip to the event", etc.

The following classes have been developed:

Grudge Matches!
Concerned about get eliminated early on? Don't be. Instead, please join some of the well known S197 racecar drivers and our other special guests in the non-award category. Call out a buddy (or a nemesis) for some straight-up heads up racing action. No one to call out? Just keep making "time trial" passes as if you are at a private rental. Everyone will have plenty of opportunity to race all day! (Grudge Matches and Test &Tune are OPEN TO ALL FORD Powered Vehicles)

How many cars are you guys expecting? I love to watch street cars run. I get bored with drag cars.

Good luck on the turnout. Sounds like a good time.

BTW, I have a SBF powered Chebby, can I still attend?

Yea even with the Pending Cold Front moving up from the south, we had a good turn out in the rain.

I was great meeting everyone there, I wish I could control the weather but it just was too much water overnight.

I want to thank some of the racers that came out to hang out with us.
Some of them came along way to race. there were 15 cars waiting, and another 15-20 came and left since the track was flooded with standing water.
so for a 30 car turn out with crappy weather it was fun..

DaSilva Racing Ontario, Canada
Joe, Matt and friends

Thump Racing - Montrial Canada
Peter and his cousin from NJ

Woodbine Motorsports - Woodbine Maryland

Hurricane Racing Performance - Jacksonville

HP Performance - Florida

Ron from Maryland (Spyder7792) everyone knows him as the founder of Spydershaft.. He drove down and arrived at 2am during the last rain storm.

Chad from louisiana, Bob from pennsylvania, Art Quimby from New Jersey, John and Laura from Maryland, Todd, Scott and Marc from Virginia. and the Many North Carolina locals that came out to race and have a great time.

I did not get any names but, 2010 GT500 and the GT800 (800hp) black and orange beast.

Thanks again.
and hope to see you at the next event soon

Now for some pics...bunch of die hards.
