Default First time at track. my buggy's a slug!

First time out.
08 gt/auto vert. brenspeed tune c&l cai
best pass was 14.07@99 about 80 degrees out.
ran a 14.11, 14.12, 14.22 and a 14.66@95 when I removed the tune for a pass.
Track really hooked well as the car was bogging sooo bad because of the good traction off the line. I was keeping the car on the converter as the tree was coming down leaving around 2500-2800 rpm. best 60 was 2.25 Stock tires 32 psi.I guess other then how slow the car seemed to launch I was ok with how it ran. I was hoping for mid 13's but that wasn't to be. I will say that the tune definately helped the car run better. That was one of the things I wanted to find out.

I don't know what I could of done to make the car run better just thought I would post my results. I had about a half hour between runs don't know if that was enough time to cool it down a bit or not

your best 60' was better than my best 60' with brenspeed tune + steeda intake only.. i got a 2.4 each time.. and i think my best pass was around 14.5.. with a 6600ft DA converted down to a 13.3... so.. if you give me track name/location, time/day you went I can figure your da.. launching is the only technique you need for the autos..and on stock tires in the auto people have gotten a lot better 60' than we have my best on stock tires got down to 2.0 after doing gears..

Not bad for your first time, OP. Keep working on that 60'. I see a 2.0 in your future.

Osceola dragway Osceola, In Went last friday Sept. 18th passes were from 5:30 til about 7:30pm or so. I think the altitude there is just under 900asl if memory serves me right.
I just don't see how I can pick up .2 tenths in the 60' ?? There just can't b much more driver input then picking an rpm and going with it. Whats funny is the last time I was at the strip I was running 8.90's @ 170 on a turbo hayabusa. It's not quite as involving running a 14 second automatic street car lol..

here is the breakdown of the best pass.
60' 2.250
330' 6.069
et@ 594ft. 8.598
1/8th et. 9.16 @ 79.77
1/4 et 14.07 @ 99.63

I tell you I think had i been able to get a little wheelspin out of the rears I could of cut my 60' down. When the car launched it was just stuck. It has never been a big spinner out of the hole but it always spins a little bit. it's the first time I had a street car on the track and I guess I always took for granted how sticky the track was when I was dragging my street bike.

People have pulled a 1.8 on stock tires. AmericanSpeed has done it in a manual car. Noone said it was easy..

If it makes you feel any better I couldn't get under a 2.3 with my manual car on stock tires and an intake/tune.

Hey man don't get discouraged. I just knew I would be in the mid 13's and ran a best of 14.03 my 1st time @ the track. Practiced, added the 410's, and ran a 13.3. Good luck dude.

I don't see where he can pick up 2 tenths. I'm like Mishri...way up in elevation...I cut 2.1-2.3 60'..depending on the temperature. I can only power brake up to 1800 to maybe 2000 rpms. We're so low on HP at this elevation, we just can't push the converter any higher. I run consistant 14.2's at 6300'

The DA was 1742'
Your 14.07 corrected time is 13.79 at 101.

Mishri has M&H drag radials now and still had issues with getting under 2.x 60'. Was a bit of a mystery and a lot of people were recommending he upgrade his stall converter, etc..

I don't know but if he can't get it down with some more practice I'd have to wonder if it isn't a power issue limiting him somewhat. His car did 285whp on the dyno but that was a SAE corrected figure. I know cars do 1.5 60' times at our track but they are built up cars with a ton of power.

I can't see how you were footbraking 2500-2800 with the stock converter. I start pushing out of the beams at 1800 RPM. Try launching from idle. This will flash the converter. Stage as shallow as possible. You want to turn on the prestage and take very small and slow bumps so you barely turn on the stage light.
